The Otterbox Commuter case for the CDMA Hero fits like a glove! Its a great at its most important feature, protecting the phone. I dropped my phone about 2 weeks into owning it, and the only damage to it was a hardly noticeable scratch on the plastic portion of the case. The phone is wrapped in a silicone case which is covered by a hard plastic case. This is a great design that provides shock AND scratch resistance to your phone. When you first look at the plastic case, it seems like its too thin and flimsy, but the material the Otterbox designers chose is a good one. The plastic is flexible, but durable and strong. It may seem flimsy at first glance, but really it is flexibility, not flimsiness. That means your case won't crack when you drop it. The cover flaps for the headphone port and USB port are well designed, and aren't going to get torn off/fall off after multiple open and close cycles. They fit snugly, and don't fall out on their own like other cases I've had. The case is really easy to put on the phone too. I have multiple batteries, and while its obviously more complicated to change the battery with a case on, it still only takes a couple seconds to pull it off and a couple more to put it back on. No difficulty at all. The only con in my opinion is that with the placement of the speaker on the back of the phone, the case can muffle the sound. It adds a little thickness around the rectangular opening of the phone where the speaker lives, and seems like it reduces the volume a little bit. If you have the phone laying on its back on a couch or soft material, it can sort of seal off the sound. Its not a problem for rings or notifications, but you have to put it on its face if you're gonna have a conversation on speaker phone. To me, this is a minor nuisance, and a small price to pay for the amount of protection you get for your phone. If you get an Otterbox Commuter case for your Hero, you won't regret it!

THIS CASE WORKS! MY PHONE GOT THROWN HARD AGAINST THE WALL, PUTTING A QUARTER SIZED HOLE IN THE WALL. NOTHING - NOTHING HAPPENED TO MY PHONE...NO SIGN OF DAMAGE WHATSOEVER. I AM SO GLAD I PICKED THIS PRODUCT, AND IT LOOKS NICE TOO!

The Otterbox Commuter case is exactly as advertised. The rubber shock absorber goes on easily and fits like a glove then the plastic armor goes over the rubber absorber easily. Even the clear screen cover applies simpler than most with a protective shield packaging on each side of the cover. I debated between the Commuter and Defender case and glad I went with the Commuter though I'm sure either will protect the phone wonderfully. I keep my phone in my pocket so the commuter case isn't quite as bulky.

got the otter box from a friend for my B day. Decided to get one for the wife as well. Very durable will protect the phone from most impact other than a full on hit to the touchscreen. Recommended for any smart phone.

It was exactly as advertised. One thing was that the tab on the protective screen cover would not peel off easily and when it did it left adhesive on the screen cover. Other than that it works great.
