I purchased this to protect my BB since I consider my phone an investment. Yes as other reviewers have mentioned the otter Box does bulk up the phone but it's in order to protect it. There are four pieces, a front and back hard plastic, the think plastic key board cover, and the rubbery plastic that goes around the two hard plastic pieces. I am sure that my investment is protected to the max.

this is the best phone cover i have ever had! its not that bulky and can handle being thrown across the room and fits snuggly in its holder so you never have to worry about it falling out. also it sits close to your body so it never gets stuck on drawer or door and busts open! you never have to take it off to charge or anything so i HIGHLY recommend it!

The defender is the not cheapest cover you can buy for a blackberry or other smart phone but is well worth the price. This rubbery case lives up to its name with the protection the case offers the delicate phone held inside. The case is bulky but for me it makes it easier to hold on to my blackberry and work the keys. It defender comes with a sturdy plastic shield to protect the screen. The keys are easy to access as is the track pad.
The raised buttons do access functions on the phone and it is easy to pull away the protective rubber trim to charge your phone in the car or at your computer.
For me, it was worth spending more money for the protection.

But I am another that loves to keep my phone new, and it seems the one time it gets damaged it is a major event. I have fat thumbs so it makes some of the keys a pain now, but the abuse that it can take without hurting what is inside is worth it. It has prevented a milkshake and a 6ft fall to pavement from doing any sort of damage. Plus now I can put my phone in my pocket and not have the screen get trashed or the keys constantly pressed.
