Using SRS WOW HD sound technology, the headset features noise-isolating ear buds that generate rich, powerful surround sound without ambient noise. And thanks to enhanced bass and high-definition audio, this headset will play your music with superb fidelity. You'll also enjoy remarkable call clarity--even in noisy environments.

Music Pauses for Incoming Calls
Thanks to a small, high-grade microphone located beneath the right speaker, the S9-HD will pick up your voice in crisp detail. And if you should receive a call while your tunes are playing, the music will automatically pause. Just press the call button on the side of the headset to accept an incoming call.

Comfortable, Lightweight Design

1 out of 5 stars Maybe the problem is my head.   September 6, 2010
M. Trzcinski (East Texas)
First problem I had was the fact that MS Window's doesn't support stereo bluetooth headsets with the stock stack. I resolved that with purchasing the BlueSoliel program for $70. At that point I would have been better off with a Sony wireless headset.

Then I tried to use it from sitting in front of my HP DV7 laptop. I can't look at the laptop and maintain signal. From right in front. MY HEAD IS TOO THICK FOR THE SIGNAL.

So I back off, try to use it as a regular phone headset. Then I lose one medium earbud. Just went 'ping' and I never found it again. Turns out the rubber earbuds don't actually like staying on.

Finally, I bought a bluetooth adapter for my iPod classic. I wear the iPod on a wrist pouch, and once again my head is too much.

So, buy a good mono bluetooth earpeice for your phone, a wireless unit for the stereo, and a good pair of buds for the MP3 player.

4 out of 5 stars A Noticeable Improvement Over S9   September 4, 2010
Bojan Tunguz (Greencastle, IN USA)
I've been looking for a long time to buy Bluetooth stereo headphones for the workouts in the gym - I got tired of having to deal cords that would get tangled up during the workouts or would become a mess in the gym bag. When Motorola MOTOROKR S9 Bluetooth Stereo Headphones came out I jumped at the opportunity to buy them since they were the first stereo Bluetooth headset with a form factor that is appropriate for wearing in public. (Most of the other ones are too big and just scream "Look at me, I am a dork!") Unfortunately, those headphones had several limitations, the worst one of which is that they are not waterproof and after about a year of use they almost inevitably stop working. I had gone through three pairs of them thus far - I would have loved if I could buy alternate headphones, but in terms of features and the look these are still some of the best on the market. I have finally decided to upgrade to the slightly more expensive (and newer) S9-HD model and since I bought them a few weeks ago, I have been extremely satisfied with them - for the most part. Here are a few pros and cons that I have come up with.

Pros:

1. Comfortable enough for a daily workout. Even with my moderately large head, I did not have much of a comfort issue with wearing them every day for a couple of hours. I would not recommend wearing them for more than three hours in a row though. But that would be the case with most headphones anyways.
2. Easy setup. I had no problem connecting them to either my cell phone/mp3 player or my laptop.
3. Decent range. As long as there is an uninterrupted line of sight between the linking device and the headset, you can use them on the other side of a large room or a smaller gym. Comes in handy when working out and don't want anything attached to any part of your body.
4. Decent music playback sound. This is one of the more noticeable areas of improvement over S9.
5. Decent battery life. For a relatively small device like this one, it was pleasing to find out that it did not have to be recharged more than a couple of times a week with standard use.
6. As a phone earpiece it is useful to have around the head headset because it improves stability a lot. All of my other earpieces fall out of my ears way too easily.
7. Being transferred from the mp3 player to the phone when receiving an incoming call is really useful and cool. This works with iPhone as well.
8. Improved and raised control buttons. They are much more accessible and not easily pushed by accident - this had been one of S9's weaknesses.
9. Much improved earpieces - they are very comfortable and easier on your ears.
10. The part of the headphones that touches your head is heavily rubberized. I hope this also means that these headphones are waterproof, or at least less likely to break down than S9.

Cons:

1. It would be really useful if these headphones were collapsible. In that case they could be taken with you in your pocket almost anywhere you go. Plus, it would avoid dangers of having them twisted while stored in your bag.
2. The stereo feature works only for music. When using them for calling, only the left earpiece delivers sound, which is sort of weird. This takes some time to get used to.
3. For some reason, when I linked them to my laptop, they got de-linked with my cell-phone. I had to go through the whole process again to have them back in the desired configuration.
4. When using it with iPhone, the track-skipping buttons don't work.
5. When using it with iPhone, the headphones don't work with all applications. This turned out to be annoying and inconvenient when I tried using them with Skype.

1 out of 5 stars Garbage   September 1, 2010

Not stable. Read everyone's reviews! These things hurt your ears! Honestly, I can't wear them for longer than 30 minutes before my ears can't take anymore. There are only two sizes of rubber earbud covers. Neither is comfortable and they are ALWAYS falling off. It's PATHETIC.

This is a horrible excuse for a product, and Motorola does not stand behind it. I asked them for a return and they refused.

4 out of 5 stars Great sound   September 1, 2010
John H. Kleschinsky (Boston, MA)
This bluetooth stereo headset from Motorola works perfectly. It's very easy to set up. I had no problem pairing this with my laptop, cellphone, and ipod (5th gen w/ bluetooth adapter). The sound is great. And so is the fit. I've used it for cardio and weightlifting and it does not move much at all. I do wish it fit a bit more firmly in my ears. I do find myself adjusting it from time to time. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is because the battery life is good not great and there's no ability to replace the battery. That's the only con I can find about the product.

3 out of 5 stars Superb Sound, Poor Reception   August 31, 2010
Kurt S. Godden (Sterling Heights, MI United States)
I have had these headphones for about a month and use them to listen to iTunes on a Macbook Pro. The sound quality is superb with rich bass and wide frequency response. I paired them with both my Mac as well as my cellphone, and if a call comes in when I'm listening to music or watching a movie, that sound is muted and I am connected to my cell, just as advertised.

Unlike some other reviewers who wrote that they could not control their iTunes with forward/back or pause/play, my headphones are fully functional with these controls. I suspect that Apple added the necessary bluetooth support for these controls with the last major OS upgrade, Snow Leopard, and that the earlier reviews were pre-SL.

I have just one complaint with these headphones. I had expected to be able to walk around the room and so forth while listening to my music uninterrupted, but sadly that is not the case. The reception cuts in and out when I get even a short distance away from my computer, i.e. just a few feet. We'll see how they perform when I get a new iPod Touch after Apple's about-to-be-announced iPod refresh in a couple of days.

If the reception is just as poor, then the next time I get bluetooth headphones, I will likely try a different brand.

But as long as I am close to my computer, I am very happy with these headphones. Should you buy them? It all depends on your expectations, and some people seem to have better reception than what I have experienced.
